They do come in handy sometimes, but it's just ridiculous the way women walk up and down the supermarket aisles chatting on their phones. One lady I saw today was describing the meat on her phone!

If I had a car, so that I was driving around alone quite a bit, I'd like one to call for help if I had trouble. But I just don't see the necessity of talking to someone All the time! And they seem to talk so LOUD most of the time--it's not private or discreet at all.

Irene, I know that you're not that way at all.

It's actually illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving here in New York state, although not many people pay attention to that law, so some people have gotten hands-free units that they wear on their ear. What is most hysterical is when you're on the other side of a person talking on one. You see and hear them talking, but no one is there, so it looks like they're talking to themselves! They look like they're crazy!

Elaine, it is illegal here in Australia too. That is why most people will either buy hand-free or speaker for theie cell.

My parents bought me my first cell when I was 18 (ie driving age), so that if I get stranded or something, I can call someone...

Oh my God Irene, so funny, because a few years back I had the exact same reaction before cell phones became the norm. I thought, there are more people then I realized who've obviously "lost it" and are walking around talking to themselves!!!

Hahahaha... I am one of that person once. I have my ear-piece (hand-free) on and the phone was in my pocket. After my cousin told me how weird I look, I never used it again. Kekeke.

I have always gotten a kick out of the picture of Michaela walking down the street in CS talking on the cell phone.

I know that picture and it always makes me giggle. LaughingLaughing.

Talking on a cellphone while driving a car is illegal in Germany too. Actually if the police catches you, you have pay for it. I only wish they WOULD catch more people because it's irresponsible and dangerous having those idiots on the streets.
