I need some advice/opinions about this movie. I've been looking high and low for it for a long time. I haven't been able to find it available anywhere, but it came up on eBay the other day. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=019&item=290004523657&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

It's pretty old, but seller claims it's in decent condition. I'm saving my money for a trip in September, but I'd pay $20 to have this movie.

What does anyone think? Is it worth it? Should I chance it? What would you do?

It's good Elaine. I think its probably worth the $20. As I recall Jane is all through it.

I guess I'd also take it, Elaine. Certainly I don't know wheather it' s availaible somewhere in the US. But 2o$ seem to be ok.

Well, Elaine, from the item description I understood that it's a taped from TV video, because I don't think it was ever released on video.

But I can tell you, it's VERY good! Jane is outstanding in it, and so is Hart Bochner. (It's a 2-part mini-series)

Those nearly 20$ are a lot of money for a hand-taped video, but if you can't find it on a TV channel and tape it yourself it's definitely worth it. It should have a place in every Jane Seymour fan's collection. Wink

I would copy it for you to DVD, but I have only the German version on DVD, also formerly taped from TV to VHS.

I also have the English version on VHS from someone who taped (or copied) it for me a few years ago, but I can't copy it unfortunately.

Well, I thank you ladies for letting me know your feelings about it. I read some synopses of the "story" online, so I have an idea of what it is. And I love Hart Bochner, as well as Jane. I think I may just take the chance on it, but I think I may wait until the time is almost up to get it. I hate to waste my money on a self-made video, but it seems to be the only way to get this movie. Even Netflix only has the old version--this version seems to not be available at all.

I would love to see this movie... The price is a bit dear but I guess it is worth it for such a rare movie.... only if that seller ship to Australia..... Oh Well....

Maybe someone can lend me the movie and I will capture it and put it on DVD ourselves. (Another one to the list Mary Ann??? Surprised )

I have this series in French because I taped it when it was done on TV. I like it very much. After seeing the movie, I bought the book... and I prefered the movie!!!! Jane is well, well, well! She is perfect!

Oh yes Geneviève, Jane IS perfect for the role. (I haven't read the book yet; I haven't read anything by Hemingway at all yet. Wink)

I could try to make one or another clip, but it'd be in German then. Wink

Well, I did it. I "bought it now".....it came to $19.04, so I hope the tape is decent. It's an old tape, so I may try to copy it onto a new blank tape, just to assure myself that it will last longer. (I've had old, unused tapes actually "dry up and break") But I checked everywhere I could think of, and it's just not available! I saw a few VHS copies of an old version of the movie, with Tyrone Power, Ava Gardner and Errol Flynn, but none of this TV movie. Now, as long as it arrives promptly and safely..........

Elaine, I hope it arrives soon, especially since this seller required "immediate" payment.

I always pay immediately at the end of an auction, or in this case, upon "buy it now" selection. I hope it comes within a week.

I do that too, Elaine. but it was the first time I read on an auction that a seller requires immediate payment. Others give a longer time span. Wink
