Has anyone seen Barbara Babcock in a "Vow to Cherish"? It is an awesome movie, and I saw it before I even knew who she was. I hadn't seen any DQ when I first saw this movie. She played an excellant part. Very touching. I had just never heard anyone say anything on this forum about that. And wondered if there were any Barbara fans out there?

I haven't heard of this movie until now, Carol. But I guess that is because I'm not a big fan of Barbara's. The only work of her that I'm interested in is DQ. I've seen her in "Far and Away", and on "Judging Amy" where she played Kyle's stuck-up mom, and I remember seeing her in Golden Girls. But this movie I don't know. Embarassed

Carol, I've definitely seen a Vow to Cherish and in fact there are highlight clips and screen shots from the film on her cast page on our site for those who would like to see it.

I think it's one of her finest performances ever. But absolutely heartbreaking.

I'm definitely a fan of hers and even had the opportunity along with Pam and her mom of seeing Barbara on stage in a wonderful comedy she was in a few years ago in Carmel called Hay Fever. We met with Barbara after the play and she even graciously paid for our lunch at a lovely hotel nearby, though she wasn't able to join us. She is one of the classiest women you could meet, and the nicest.

Wow Mary Ann how awesome. She sounds like a very classy lady. I have had that DVE for about two years. And today I was thinking about it and wondered if anyone else had seen it. It is a very good movie, very moving and very stiring. It is a tear jerker though. Get the Kleenx ready if you want to see it and haven't. Smile

I saw A Vow To Cherish. It was absolutely wonderful! I had a good cry during it. Barbara did a wonderful job with the role. And I like Ken Howard too. (He was in Memories of Midnight with Jane too.)

I used to like Ken Howard's show "White Shadow" where he played a basketball coach. Does anyone else remember that show? Man I really am giving my age away Laughing Laughing

No, you're not, Carol. I remember liking it too. It was the late 70s/early 80s, I believe.

You remember they always change the titles of the movies, here in France, so can you give a little story of "A vow to cherish"? Thanks.
I saw Barbara in a movie were she played Nicole Kidman's mother, when they go to the Far west, and I love this movie and I love her!!!!! I think she perfectly plays her part!!!!

Geneviève, the movie where Barbara played Nicole Kidman's mother is called "Far and Away". In Germany it has a different title too. Wink

Maybe, if A Vow to Cherish airs on German TV one day, I'll give it a chance too. What is it about? Perhaps it did air already and I just missed it because I didn't know of its existence. Wink

Girls the movie is about a woman(Barbara) who is a teacher and she gets altimizers. The movie shows how a family deals with the mother losing her memories. It is a very heartwarming and touching movie. In the movie she has two teen agers a girl and boy and it takes you through how they deal with their mother and the fustracutions of altimizers. And how the husband made a vow when they got married to be with her in sickness and health. Very good movie. I ma just hitting the hi spots.
