A fan shares her first meeting with Jane at a recent art show in Destin Florida (June 17, 2006)

Well I am back from my trip to Destin, FL, which by the way was truly lovely. But of course the highlight of my trip was meeting Jane. The gallery was very nice and laid back and let everyone take pictures of her and sign autographs. I not only got to meet Jane but took a picture of her, then we ran to Walmart and got it blown up to an 8x10 and took it back to the art gallery and she signed it for me wishing me a Happy Birthday.

She is so totally beautiful, much more in person then pictures, and she is so sweet. She did not disappoint me at all. You know you hear about stars and how they snub their fans and won't give autographs, but Jane was totally the opposite. She was just so kind. I just wanted to talk to her more, but there were people standing there waiting to speak to her so I felt like I had to move on. l really don't know that much about art and don't collect it at all so I couldn't say anything really intellegent about art!!

She is such a great painter though, I wish I could have afforded one of her painting, I found one I really liked a lot, and that is hard to do because she has so many to chose from. I met Susan (Jane's art director) and she is super nice also.

I was so scared when I first went up to Jane and held my hand out to shake her hand, I told her my name and that my husband had brought me here for my birthday, and she smiled and said how sweet, then I froze, my poor husband had to step up and tell her that I was one of her biggest fans. She said something to him smiling the whole time, and then put her arm around me and put her hand in the middle of my back and my husband took our picture. After I thanked her we walked away, and I could not hardly breath and my eyes filled up with tears, because I was so nervous. My husband said " you better not cry" and I was taking in big gulps of air to keep from fainting. We have really laughed about that. I was really really nervous. But it was totally awesome. In the picture you can tell I am literally scared to death. My husband said he started to tell me to loosen up, but knew I was scared and nervous so he just took the picture. That was such an awesome hour of my life.
