In May of 2002, Dr. Quinn creator
Beth Sullivan and her husband Jim Knobeloch (Jake on Dr. Quinn) suffered
serious physical injuries as the result of a car accident in Australia.
On learning of this tragedy, fans of Dr. Quinn around the world vowed
to show this couple how much they meant to them.- The idea of the 'Friendship
Quilt' was born. Through the efforts of Dianne Bennett and with the
help of friends, the quilt squares, tokens of love from around the world
that had poured in, were crafted together into a beautiful quilt which
was presented to Beth and her husband from the fans. The story of the
making of that quilt was told in Issue 6 of the DQ Times |
