Jane Seymour at the New York Art Expo 2007

The New York Art expo is always a huge success and this year's show was no exception. But this year unbeknown to the thousands of art lovers combing the booths in search of that perfect piece of art, there was one very special attendee -Flat Stanley

With the help of his 'nana' Flat Stanley not only flew over the 'rooftops of London' with Mary Poppins AND met the beautiful Jane Seymour- he very nearly ended up a unique art exhibit himself when an industrious expo employee thinking he had fallen, thoughtfully pinned him to a wall!  But let's let Flat Stanley tell you in his own words about his adventure in the Big Apple!

I hardly got to sleep before I was rudely stuffed into the pocket of Elaine's overnight bag! We got on a bus at 4:30am, and took off for "The Big Apple." A long seven hours later, we arrived, and soon met up with Mary Ann (of The DQ Times board). We got a cab and went to The Residence Inn/Manhattan-Times Square, where I was first to try out the bed. Once Saray got there, they all took off to get lunch, but I got to stay in the suite and "veg." I could even see the Empire State Building from the room!

After a pretty nice breakfast buffet in the hotel Library/Lounge, we took a cab to The Jacob Javits Convention Center, where the NY ArtExpo 2007 was being held. WOW! All kinds of art...everywhere we looked! I posed by myself before we started looking around too much. But then we saw...dogs--Can I take one home?... Snoopy & Charlie Brown... the Cat in the Hat...an African village...and a cute little café--I was getting hungry. I even got to ride a moving elephant trunk, and shake a moveable dog's paw!

At last it seemed like a good time to go meet Jane Seymour. The crowd had lightened up some. She sure is a nice, pretty lady! Fun and friendly too. I wasn't shy with her at all!

We hung around her display area for a while:
Jane promotes her new book
Jane puts on a silk scarf
Jane models her scarf (Another one is framed behind her)
Jane shows a pretty painting
Jane loves talking to her fans
Marta, Jane, and Elaine model their scarves together!

Then we walked around for a while again. I almost got run over by a bunch of bike racers! And I tried my luck at hailing a taxi that was just my size, but no luck.

Saturday night, Mary Ann, Saray, and Elaine had tickets to Mary Poppins, and I ended up tagging along. First we went to Planet Hollywood for supper--Mmmmm!--where I got to play on the piano that Tom Hanks walked on in Big. Between Jane Seymour and Mary Poppins, Saturday was Practically Perfect in every way!

Another great breakfast at the hotel, then back to the ArtExpo for a while, but we had to go home today. After "good-byes" to Saray and Mary Ann, we got back on a bus, and waved farewell to New York City.

What a fun and exciting weekend!
